We’ll be launching a design workshop every wed starting from November 7.

This 1st project-driven design workshop will focus on the use of Adobe Illustrator, typography and colors, and how to use Illustrator to create successful logos and graphic design.

Through the projects, students will learn:

1. How to setup an Illustrator document for print or web
2. How to use tools, masks, layers, filters, effects
3. Converting hand made sketches to digital artwork
4. Logo design
5. Typography skills
6. Preparation of Final Artwork (FA) for print/screen/web.

Duration: 4 lessons

Requirements from the Instructor

You are communicative and interested in improving your Illustrator skills
You want to “learn by doing”
You are responsible for your own documentation (screenshots, notes)
You will bring your ideas to the workshop
You will bring your hand made sketches, drafts and digital drafts you want to work with it.
You need plain paper sheets, crayons, pencil, felt pen (black) and a ruler
A thumb drive is not necessary, but helpful for data exchange

Students will receive 2 active CE points per submission of project at the end of each workshop, up to 8 CE points for full attendance.

Class size will be limited to 25 students. If there is a over registration, priority will be given to Style IG students.

Cost of workshop: $5 per class.

About Ralph Haering

Ralph Haering studied at School of Design in Basel Switzerland for 4 years, before working as a typographer at the Hochuli AG Print office, focusing on DTP, graphic design and image editing. In 2004, he supervised pre-press and polygraphic applications at Staffeldruck in Zurich, including colorproofing and color management, before becoming a project director at Ugra, the Swiss Centre of Competence for media and Printing Technology in St Gallen where he was involved in the development and support of prepress products.
